    Start today’s Lhasa exploration with an exciting visit to iconic Potala Palace, which is known one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. In addition, we will also visit Jokhang Temple which is regarded as the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism. Our visit will not be completed without walking along the Barkhor Street, the ancient route to circumambulate Jokhang Temple. The last site of the day will be the famous Sear Monastery, where you will have the opportunity to observe monks debating in a courtyard as they have been doing for hundreds of years.     A thrilling motorcycle ride is about to begin today!
    We will leave Lhasa and ride to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. The first site you will reach is the Yamdrok Lake (altitude: 4,400m), one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. As we continue our ride through the Tibetan plateau, prayer flags announce your arrival at Karola Glacier (5,045m), where you can see the white snow from a couple of hundred meters away beside your road. From there you will ride to the historical city of Gyantse prior to arriving at our hotel in Shigatse.

    Our day begins with a visit to the official location of the Panchen Lama: Tashilhunpo Monastery,the most influential Gelug monastery in Shigatse. After that we will set out to Saga via Lhaze. Saga is a very important spot in terms of transportation which is located at the south line of Nagri (Ali). From here we may begin to have more opportunities to see some wild animals like Tibetan antelope, Equus kiang, etc. Overnight in Saga.

    On our ride to Darchen from Saga, we will have a chance to appreciate the stunning view of the Saga valley between Gangdise Range and Himalayan Range. As we cross the Mayum-la pass (5,112m), you can find a very good viewpoint to overlook Mt. Naimonanyi (7,694m).  Then we are supposed to pass by Lake Manasarover and finally arrive at the southern foot of Mt.Kailash, the holiest mountain in Tibet. Overnight in Darchen.

    230 KM Zada 3,700m

    From Darchen, we will continue riding towards west to Zada. If we are lucky, we might even encounter more wild animals that exist only in Tibetan areas such as Tibetan Antelope, Tibetan gazelle, Equus kiang and so on. On the way, you will see some small pastoral villages with less and less inhabitants. As we get close to Zada, the landscape becomes desert-like with less plantation and peculiar clay forests. This unique geographic background of the plateau will make you feel like in another world. Overnight in Zada.

    370 KM Burang 3,900m

    Early in the morning we will start riding to the ruins of Guge Kingdom located in Zada which is surrounded by various shapes of earth forests with a whole area covering several hundred square kilometers. As a hidden kingdom in western Tibet, Guge experienced over 700 years of prosperity but suddenly disappeared mysteriously. Another highlight of today will be the sightseeing of two lakes named Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshestha. Our road is in the middle of these two lakes, thus we can either overlook Mt. Kailash from Lake Rakshestha with a very ideal viewpoint, or we can also enjoy a beautiful sunset view at meantime. Overnight in Burang.

    540 KM Saga 4,600m

    This morning we will enjoy watching a beautiful sunrise at Lake Manasarovar when we are passing the two lakes again before riding back to Saga. As we retrace our original route, we will relish the beautiful scene of Mt. Kailash for one more time, the difference from previous day is the new dawn instead of the setting sun. Overnight in Saga.

  10. SagaPelku Tso LakeMt.ShishapamaRongbuk Monastery

    360 KM Rongbuk Monastery 4,980m

    Today we will cross the Bramaputra River and continue our journey. We will make a stop at half way to appreciate the beautiful Peiku Tso Lake and Mt. Shishapangma (the 14th highest mountain in the world at 8012m) on the other side of the road. On the way we will enjoy the fascinating distant view of other four Himalaya peaks namely Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Lhotse (8561m), Mt. Everest (8844m), and Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m). Then we proceed to Rongbuk Monastery which is the highest Monastery in the world. Staying Monastery guest house.

    In the morning, if the weather is good, you can choose to wake up early to appreciate the stunning sunrise view of Mt. Everest. After breakfast we will leave Ronubuk Monastery for the Gyawu-la pass. Atop the pass we will be rewarded with spectacular overlook views of the Himalayan Range, home of the world's highest peaks. Overnight in hotel of Shigatse.

  12. ShigatseYangpachenDamxung

    350 KM Damxung 4,200m

    This morning we will start riding through the rural scenery to Damxung via Yangpachen on our way. The grassland scenery stretches to dozens of kilometers away on both sides of the road, sometimes you will probably see the prairie-like scene with the sheep and yaks eating grass on the meadow. Later of the day you will arrive in Damxung and overnight in local hostel.

  13. DamxungNamtso LakeLhasa

    300 KM Lhasa 3,650m

    This morning we will ride to Namtso Lake. We will firstly arrive at a land full of colorful prayer flags—Tanggula View Point. Then we will pass the Nagen-La Pass (5,190m). Our next destination is Namtso Lake, one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. It looks like the waters is melting into the sky with same color. After that we will go back to Lhasa for returning our motorcycles. Overnight in Lhasa.

    Lhasa 3,650m

    This morning we will transfer to Lhasa airport where you will say goodbye to your guide, your driver, and to Tibet.

Important Notes

  1. Participants must be over 18 years of age, in good health and a motorcycle driving license is required to rent and ride motorcycles in Tibet.
  2. Please wear riding equipment as well as safety protectors meeting DOT international standards. The helmet, riding clothes, riding pants, riding gloves, riding boots, etc. are all required.
  3. Changing the assigned driver of any motorcycles is strictly prohibited. He (she) who violates this will be responsible for it if any accidents or damages caused.

Important Health Considerations

Participant with any of the following conditions should not travel to a high altitude area of more than 3,000 meters:
  1. Heart disease, arrhythmia, stage II hypertension, blood disease, cerebrovascular disease or if the resting heart rate is significantly above 1 10 beats per minute.
  2. Chronic respiratory disease, moderate or severe obstructive pulmonary disease such as bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, emphysema, active tuberculosis or pneumoconiosis.
  3. Uncontrolled diabetes, epilepsy or schizophrenia.
  4. Severe cold and upper respiratory tract infection, body temperature above 38 degrees Celsius or below 35 degrees Celsius.
  5. Patients who have been diagnosed with high altitude pulmonary edema, high altitude cerebral edema, high altitude hypertension, high altitude heart disease and high altitude polycythemia.
